Lubbock, I am leaving you, loving you.
We arrived in Lubbock, Texas in August 2016. We knew that was going to be different, Lubbock is a city where people like me, have the feeling that they are alone but for not solitude see; there is Lubbock and everything else is far away... I embrace this city as best as I could and got into the adventure to go and explore and search for the beauty of landscapes, the beauty of the infinite cotton fields after all this is West Texas, is the southern end of the high plains.
I found also our happy place, me and my girls at the taste of clay class every Thursday at the Helen DeVitt Jones Clay Studio getting to know beautiful and very helpful people, like Paola, Andrew, Marilee who teach my girl to love pottery!
I loved the first Friday art walk, I really enjoyed music at the Holly Buddy Center, and most of all I just love to stroll around visiting the art galleries. My kids loved the libraries and their story time, and all the events that they organized, well done! we attend at least two of the libraries story time every week.
The city is home of the Texas Tech University, so almost every house displays something related to it. We spend long time in the soccer fields of the Texas Tech Academy, It was a great time to show some soccer mom attitude! My girls really enjoyed the summer camp with Young Dancer Workshop, Flatland Dance Theatre and the ballet at theCity of Lubbock - Parks and Recreation. Great deals for families!. I also have to mention couple of my favorite restaurants La Diosa Cellars and La Sirena, it was nice to have some time out of the kitchen for me and taste some of the Texas wine.
Lubbock can get pretty cold sometimes during winter, that was the perfect time to visit some local live music venues bars like the light blue live http://www.thebluelightlive.com/ right in the Buddy holly ave in the heart of lubbock where I had the pleasure to photograph Elli Perry and enjoyed her music. https://www.elliperry.com/
It really feels that we are celebrating our departure, enjoying Buffalo Springs Lake and the Drake Hayes country music band,( http://www.drakehayesband.com/ )the parade of the Fourth of July and the pass of the Haboob.
Time is running out, we are packing now, we are getting ready physically and emotionally to step into a new adventure in the state of Utah.
